I am running vmware view 5.1 client (thinapp) inside of a View Linked Clone
1) connect to abc.xxx.xom to get to linked clone using pcoip
2) once connected to linked clone then using thinapp connect to def.xxx.xom (another companys View) using pcoip.
Is anyone doing this? What are some of the gotchas?
Has anyone seen freezing?
mouse cursor issues?
Any information would be helpful.
Thanks
Having rebooted the cell server connected to VC (As you look in the System-vCenters Tab) The issue seems to have gone away?
Not quite sure what was happening there. Perhaps the joys of multiple Cell servers
Have you clustered your ESXi hosts and enabled HA?
I have modified the html to:
<SPANstyle="HEIGHT: 1%; OVERFLOW: visible"iwtype="Messaging-field-HTMLText"fieldid="CUSTOM_APPROVAL_COMMENTS"><SPANstyle="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">Comments:</SPAN> [CUSTOM_APPROVAL_COMMENTS]</SPAN>
I have also taken your advice and modified the subquery (after converting it for oracle) to be:
NVL((SELECT
TO_CHAR(h.HISTORY_DATE, 'fmMM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS AM')
|| ' - ' || p.DISPLAY
|| ' - ' || h.HISTORY_DESC_HTML
|| '<br/>' AS "data()"
FROM
CR_TASK_HISTORY h
INNER JOIN AR_PERSON p ON p.REF = h.OFFICER_REF
WHERE
h.REQUEST_NO = CR_REQUEST.REQUEST_NO
AND h.APPROVAL_COMMENTS = 1), 'No Approval Comments') "CUSTOM_APPROVAL_COMMENTS"
Good call on the null and multiple values being returned. I am able to deal with the nulls via the use of NVL which works well in my tests directly against the database. I am aking our Oracle DBA about the multiple results condition.
However, the base problem still remains of the data not making it from the query results onto the task or customer approval details screen in the wrapper.
Thanks
I'm not sure about running it inside a View session but I found this blog with some tips on how to Thinapp the client, http://blogs.vmware.com/thinapp/2012/09/virtualizing-the-vmware-view-client-using-thinapp.html
-You may try to stop any 3rd party applications services running on the vm, may also try to increase some space on the disk and check of VSS errors if windows machine
yeah *cough*, that bug's been in there for a while.
if you change line 31/32 in /var/www/eda/ajax.php from:
to
all should be well again.
Hi all, I'm planning my "simple install" upgrade from vCenter 4.1 to 5.1 running on a windows 2008 R2 x64 machine which will be running MSSQL 2005 SP4 32BIT
I have read through the install guide in the documentation centre which details how to set the single sign on database up using the scripts provided with the installer. My question is am I safe to use these scripts to set up the SSO database on my MSSQL 2005 in advance? i.e a week in advance, just so that there is less work to do come upgrade day?
Also, is the SSO database OK to run from my MSSQL2005 x32 sp4 instance? I know that this database is compatible with vCentre 5,1, but the SSO database isn't mentioned specifically. I'm assuming it is.
Cheers,
Matt
You may try to delete all the identity sources for your primary and secondary domain controller, and then add a fresh entry with the primary domain controller and check if that works ...
...and how can I update it with the API. Which xml tag is it?
Thanks
Yes, it works across organizations as long as the target org has access to the source template (i.e. it must be in a published catalog). If the target org VDC isn't using the same datastore as the source it will need to create a shadow VM first. Subsequent copies will be fast once the shadow VM exists.
The secondary is back up but to be honest it is a much older box that I have much less faith in so I really want it to point to my PDC. It is using regular LDAP. no certificates
I will give that a try and get back to you.
AFAIK the UI customization is limited to changing some colors and fiddling with logos. You can't disable/hide UI controls or alter the functionality.
Can anyone give me any input? I attached the screenshot.
Thanks
THANKS!
-With 5.1 VMware has come up with Single Sign on (SSO), where you would have to add the identity sources (domain controllers).
-while installing if the installer is unable to detect the identity sources automatically then probably it may delete the users and permissions already present in the VC.
-You will also get a message on the same as well as the deleted users and groups will be placed on a text file in the temp location
You can apply HP firmware updates online through HP SUM, or through HP's vCenter Insight Control plugin.

vCenter Single Sign On installed OK
vCenter Inventory Service installed OK
The installation of vCenter Server aborts when the installation dialog says:
Registering with vCenter Single Sign On
The error message is:
Error 29113. Wrong input - either a command line argument is wrong, a file cannot be found or the spec file doesen't contain the required information, or the clocks on the two systems are not synchronized. Check vm_ssoreg.log in system temporary folder for details.
Log file enclosed.
Do anyone know a solution for this?
i've read this article and for exisiting installation of Vcenter VMware KB: Upgrading to vCenter Server 5.1 fails with the error: Certificate already expired
i can't download the ova file as trial to test
i know the issue is Certificate expired but on i dont have the folder C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\SSL to check !
any suggestions please?
